Just found out that three stories from the Lords of Swords anthology* received an Honorable Mention in The Year's Best Fantasy and Horror 2006, edited by Ellen Datlow, Kelly Link, and Gavin Grant:
Vera Nazarian's "The Slaying of Winter," Tanith Lee's "Woman in Scarlet"...
...and my own "Dragon's Eye."
Cool. Very cool.
* Lords of Swords, ed. by Daniel Blackston, Pitch-Black Books, 2004.
(edited to add: in February, 2007, Pitch-Black Books folded. The anthology is still available on Amazon as Feb. 7, 2007.)

Dear Beth,
Thank you for taking the time to critique my first chapter of Highland Princess. You really struck some chords and I'm feeling inspired to work on this some more.
That's great, Beth! Congratulations!
Cathy--you're welcome!
December--Thanks!
Beth!
Congratulations! I'm wondering how I didn't know you had this blog?
I'm sorry to be MIA I'll email you soon!

Rhonda! How'd you find me? [g] I don't talk about this blog much; it's something of an experiment.
I was hoping to see you in the Openings Workshop over at the forum. You can still come over and play, if you like.
Beth,
I think I saw a link under a post of yours one day and clicked. (Scratching head trying to remember...) I wanted to participate in the openings workshop, especially since I REALLY need to work on my opening sentence! >g< I've printed off the thread to try to catch up reading...Maybe I can work on it over the weekend.
I also need to find a snippet for the chapbook...and then there is the query I'm also working on. (Not to mention just writing on my WIP in general.) I'm hoping now I'll have some time.
But in any event, I'm glad I tracked you down here! >g<

Congrats! That is so great!
I was *so* not surprised at this announcement. {s} And you can't cry about keeping company with those other honorable mentions, either, can you now?
You're going places! {s}
Miss Mitty,
Thanks! {s}
Are you a casual passerby, or do I know you from somewhere and just don't recognize your name?
Either way, thanks so much for stopping by.
