The Second Spring

Autumn is a second spring when every leaf is a flower.
~Albert Camus

Winter is an etching, spring a watercolor, summer an oil painting and autumn a mosaic of them all. ~Stanley Horowitz

After the summer's drought, I wasn't sure what to expect from autumn. It was certainly late arriving, though since summer lingered far past its expiration date, it's not so surprising that fall would take its time. Today is Thanksgiving, and the leaves are only a week past their peak. Many are still on the trees, some are still brilliant.

I love autumn about as much as I love spring. It's the colors. Winters are painted drab and dreary and summer is mostly a monotony of green, but spring bursts out in blushing pastels and autumn is all fire and jewels.

These photos were taken within the last week or so in the area around my house.

Beautiful! This is what I'd hoped to see when I was in NC in October. Glad to see you had a fall, after all.

Beth,
These are lovely. Our falls are so short, I forget. Hope everything is going well--

So now we know that in addition to being a superlative writer you are also an incredible photographer - is filmaking next on the list? Seriously, beautiful work (but don't forget to finish the book...).

No, no filmmaking. LOL.

Thanks, everyone. I've been writing, and occasionally working on some blog posts but not ready to stick one up in public view yet. And now Christmas has taken over with a vengeance.

And speaking of which...

A blessed holiday to everyone.
